Centre for Tourism


The Centre for Tourism forms a cross disciplinary research platform in close collaboration with the tourism industry. The mission is to initiate, develop, and support increased knowledge development and professionalisation within the tourism field. The objective is to become one of the leading tourism research centres in Europe.

The Centre for Tourism is conducting qualified research and education in the field of tourism. The staff at the Centre represents a broad range of academic competences, and research is often interdisciplinary. Current prioritised research at the CFT are event and meetings management, impact analysis of tourism, hotel and restaurant management, destinations management and cultural tourism.

CFT-planning grant

To promote research related to tourism, CFT will provide planning grants. The aim is to improve researchers' opportunities to develop applications to national funding bodies.

The Food Tourism group at the Centre for Tourism will co-organize the academic/business conference “Tomorrow’s Food Travel - TFT”, together with Visit Sweden, West Sweden Tourism Board and Göteborg and Co.
The TFT conference will be held 8-10 October 2018 at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg.
